All right, so first up, you should know I'm pretty much the queen of the smoothie. I maintain they're the single greatest invention in the world of food. So I'm something of a smoothie connoisseur....

Anyway, made this last night, was awesome, thought I'd share.

Put In Your Blender:

1 banana
3/4 cup of rice milk, or thereabouts (or soy milk, or normal milk, whatever... can't really taste it)
200g frozen mixed berries-ish (think it was just short of half of a 500g bag anyway)
1 tablespoon of honey

Blend blend blend until smooth.

Leave for about 15mins so the berries defrost fully and the flavour comes out

Enjoy

It's very berry but woooooooow you can't beat it. Add more honey if your berries aren't that great; it seems to bring out the flavour more. Just make sure it's good raw honey. I used pohutukawa honey from my Uncle's farm... don't get much more raw than that. And everything organic, obvs. Goes without saying.

I totally agree with you Dizzy. I'm pretty good with kefir smoothies myself and do something very similar with kefir instead of milks. Definitely yummy:)

I never wait for them to defrost! I eat it like anyone would "ice cream"
Frozen fruit + yogurt+ organic milk= something near to ice cream shake!

Yummy in my Tummy!:):)

Izzy - your recipe is very similar to the smoothie we make only we don't use milk of any kind. Instead we use either fruit juice or just water.

Mmmmm, so full of nom. Just made another one, but I also added in a persimmon, and I think I hit the magic ingredient....

So add a smallish ripe-ish persimmon and oooooooooh, it's like magic.

Also, I just garnished with a couple of Melissa (lemonbalm) leaves and the flavour goes well with it too.

<3

I could basically live on smoothies. In fact, right now, I actually do.

Oh, and add ice in summer... gives a good crunch to any smoothie.

I'll pass on the ice thanks. I have never enjoyed drinks with ice in them. It dilutes the nice rich flavour of the drink as it melts. I also feel the cold numbs your flavour buds a bit so you also lose some of the flavour that way.

We'll have to wait till next spring to try them with some lemonbalm. It has gone into "hibernation" for winter in this part of the country.

Yeah, mine's starting to look a bit sad too... I've just harvested the last of the leaves, got them drying in my room as we speak. Then chop back time in the next day or so. Hate that; melissa is one of my most-used herbs, I just love it.

I do primarily green smoothies (as a change from juicing). The fruit smoothies are a little too much for a diabetic. Sounds good, though!

Yeah, I had one tonight after a bit of a sugar pig-out yesterday and today, and eek.... felt like I may have just blasted myself halfway towards Syndrome X, lol.

Think I'll be going the green smoothie route tomorrow night.

If you use blueberries and a few blackberries and leave out the banana, it's not quite as bad on the sugar. I know y'all will think I'm weird, but when I use banana, I use cocoa powder and coffee, lol.

Ours is laden with seeds. You have just reminded me that I'd better harvest them. I'll put it on todays TO DO list.

Holy schamozzle, I hit the mother-load last night! The golden egg of all smoothies, the single greatest taste I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, just... yes.

2 very large very ripe bananas
1 medium-sized handful of mixed frozen berries
A cup or so of organic probiotic greek yoghurt (must be greek/thick)
200ml organic rice milk
1 smallish dessertspoon of raw natural honey

Pretty basic, but wow. This could possibly have tasted so good because of illness, I'll admit, but just, wow. It was like tasting heaven, and I never wanted it to end.

Dizzy, your smoothies sound somewhat like mine.
I also put a scoop of Mercola’s Protein Powder in my smoothies and use unsweetened Almond Milk.

Yummmm! Love almond milk. I'll add a couple of scoops of vanilla-flavoured colostrum powder to them too on occasion... depends how wealthy and healthy I'm feeling (I start my day with it, and it's expensive, so only when necessary for an extra boost!)
