Until now, sticky plaques on brain cells and tangles inside the cells (produced by the protein "tau"), were thought to be the source of Alzheimer's. The latest medical experiments on mice, however, show there may be another culprit. In fact, the sticky plaques may be the brain's attempt to protect itself.
