Mary Shoman who has thyroid problems, writes books and coaches people, and hosts the About.com website Thyroid Disease posted a blog where hypothyroid patients who used the Simeon Protocol shared their experiences. A couple of people had reactions to the injection.

The drops have worked perfectly for me, no adverse reactions. Either Dr. Simeone or someone else I trust advised staying on thyroid and I've kept my bp med too, though if I lose all the weight I need to, I may be able to come off the latter.

It was at Mary Shomon's web site that I first heard about the HCG diet.

What is actually this HCG Diet? I didn't hear about that.

Sally, go here: http://www.hawkeshealth.net/community/showthread.php?t=7329

That's a pretty accurate explanation. If you are interested, send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll send you Dr. Simeons' paper.

Anyone who is interested in trying this, CHECK HERE FIRST. Ever since the FDA outlawed the homeopathic formula, most HCG sites/products are scams, not the real formulation.

Anyone who is interested in trying this, CHECK HERE FIRST. Ever since the FDA outlawed the homeopathic formula, most HCG sites/products are scams, not the real formulation.

I got "in on" the hCG stuff when it was real hCG. I did three rounds and lost a little over 30 pounds in that time. I didn't find it easy, but i was thrilled to be losing weight.

Then the FDA stepped in and made them stop selling it. So the companies changed the formula to contain a mix of amino acids that were "essentially the same" as hCG and marketed it. The companies that had been selling real hCG did not report it, and the stuff they sold looked almost identical to what they had sold before. If you read the label carefully, you could see the difference, but the packaging really didn't change.

I saw a nutritionist last year who was going to put me on the hCG protocol. (I didn't like her very much; she didn't listen very well and was dismissive. She wanted me to be on some pills of mixed amino acids and i asked her what was in them. She said, "Mixed amino acids" in a very haughty tone of voice. Changed her tune when she learned i'd had a severe, possibly life-threatening reaction to 5-HTP.) The front desk sold me the bottle that looked like the one i'd had previously, and i didn't read it very thoroughly.

What was sold to me was NOT hCG. It was mixed amino acids. I have a very negative response to it and only stayed on it two or three days. Fired the nutritionist.

A client in my office ordered hCG from the company which i'd previously used and had good success with their product. At least 6 or 7 friends had used this company, too. But the company had changed the formula without posting that fact, and the client had such a severe reaction to the new formula, she ended up in ER. After being released from ER, she saw an alternative doc who does energy medicine. That doc said she was responding so severely to it, he did not want her to drive her car with the bottle in the car with her. He made her put it in the trunk.

The FDA has made a lot of bad decisions over the years. This is one of the worst ever. I have heard that doctors can still sell the hCG in injectable formulation. The oral drops, however, are virtually unavailable.

Forgot to mention that i didn't maintain my weight drop. I'm 8 to 10 pounds lighter than the beginning, but have gained back about 20. Going to try different things this time around.

It may very well be that my thyroid is a reason. I've been on thyroid supplement for a year now, so i hope i'll have a better chance of dropping the weight and keeping it off.

The genuine homeopathic article is still available from the source cited earlier in this thread. HCG1234, which I note even Target is selling these days, is NOT.

What source are you referring to Islander? I added to my origional my post to have this source cited just now.

The real homeopathic HCG formulators are not able to get it from the homeopathic pharmacies due to FDA hassling them. They have pretty much sold their stock of the real stuff.
I have used this company which sells real HCG in the drops and have had good results with the drops last year for my last round HCG diet:

This source is not cheap but it's homeopathic hcg. I have not tried it but read the label. http://www.officialhcgdietplan.com/

Thank you Islander — the other company I knew of lost their supplier.
