I can't embed this, that only works with youtube, but here's (http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/403957/december-08-2011/cheating-death---chicken-pox-lollipops---fecal-transplants) the link.

If you watch "The Colbert Report," you may have seen it. Looking at past segments, I'm beginning to think the material on VV is derived in large part from Comedy Central.

Rats! It won't play in Australia - 'wrong location'.

Fecal transplants, as I've said before are actually accepted in CONVENTIONAL medicine, lol. They are a valid treatment for refractory C. diff infections especially. It is the only thing that can actually replace bad bugs with good. All the probiotics simply pass through but eventually balance is restored if you take enough. They say "through the mouth" but it is via a tube that goes down your nose into your intestines....you don't drink it. The lollipops...I can almost understand it because it's a lot better to get it early. However, the fact that it is oral bothers me both as the gross factor and the obvious health reasons.

All that aside — I think Colbert has educated more Americans through humor than JM has through sensationalism and hysteria.

Julieanne, it would play in NZ therefore I don't know why it wouldn't play for you.

I love Colbert. I don't have cable so only catch him when I remember to look on line. I just had to FB this one.

I had been thinking about this bit and a couple of things stood out.
For it to be funny, there has to be an audience who can understand what he is talking about.
The fact he can joke about vaccinations and fecal transplants and the drug sponsor (slogan: "It's not our fault!") shows people are questioning conventional medicine.
And that is a good thing.

I agree. IMO JM seems humor challenged (is that PC enough?) and it's easier to hire someone who can crank out sensationalism (yawn) than someone who can write with wit (but I think he'd be jealous of that person).

Yeah. Occasionally someone cracks a joke and I always give that person a thumbs-up!

Go to his site, you 'll see archives. There are other "cheating death" themed segments. The guy is brilliant!
