I like that lady.... makes a lot of sense. I gave up lipstick long ago... Just could not see me putting lipstick on my lips and me licking it off. What a waste of time..

There are alternatives to a number of cosmetics without breaking the bank.
e.g.
Natural super fatted soap works well as a shampoo. It leaves hair soft, not like cardboard as many soaps do, and you don't even need conditioner.
But if you do want use a conditioner - white vinegar diluted in water.
Regualr use of soap and water rather than anti persperant or deodorant.
Flax seed oil and coconut oil as skin moisturisers.
A beeswax and oil mix to prevent chapped lips. You could probably also add natural colours like beetroot juice to add colour.

Once again, i can't get the sound to play. I'll have to try this with a different browser later.

I gave up lipstick long ago, long before i got into natural health.

I couldn't find a lipstick that didn't make my lips crack & not heal at the corners. I've not developed the other lip issues with age that some people struggle with, that doesn't run in my family. But i gave up on lipstick when it made my lips so much worse instead of better. I use a variety of things now. "Natural" chapsticks (i check the ingredient list) & straight lanolin. If i want a little color, which i rarely bother with, i have found a little lip liner with the chapstick works.

A local beekeeper makes a wax-based, all natural chapstick that's wonderful. Cheap, too, compared to the brand names.

May we all come and move in with you? You have a large house, right? OK, then we will be right along...

I make my own lipbalm... cocoa butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, a little olive oil, beeswax, manuka honey, and then a few drops of an essential oil for flavour/smell (usually orange and peppermint or something similar). I'm lucky my lips are pretty red naturally, but if I really want more colour I'll use a little mineral blush over top of it.

Very rarely I wear foundation/blush, but if I do I use the Body Shop mineral stuff (and hold my breath while I put it on, lol). It's titanium dioxide and mica and whatever colour pigments they use, so as far as they go it's about as pure and simple as you're going to get. Looks nice too. But that's only very rarely.

I do wear eye makeup but again, I go with the natural stuff... Dr Hauschka eyeshadows, Dr Hauschka eyeliner on my eyebrows and as a liner, and erm... ok, so I use a L'Oreal mascara BUT it makes 'eyelash socks' and literally stays put till you wash it off with warm water. You could leave it for two days and it'd stay. So it's not smearing all over my face like others would, so I figure it's probably safer than almost anything else you could get.

Same here. Seems like I have the chapsticks everywhere. The bee farm is about 20 minutes away...has a petting zoo for the kids. Get fresh raw local honey and other bee products. Haven't been in a while but plan to go soon

My house sleeps 50 if you are comfortable on the floor.

A couple of you have actually been to Mom's Motel, and one of you stayed for a week in Room 2. Right now the upstairs is a suite: one room with twin beds, a music and computer room, and a half bath. I'd like to put a futon in there again...there's room.

Seriously, visitors are welcome any time. Pajama party, anyone?

Hey, we could probably sleep 50 too if people sleep on the floor, not to mention all the extras if people brought their tents and camped outside. Perhaps we could have an American party and a NZ party
