This is a valuable article Aaltrude! Thank you. I have long been trying to explain to my parents that they could benefit from probiotics and digestive enzymes!

Both parents have been suffering with gut issues over the past 10 years, and my father especially, since I believe that his gut issues have been a lifelong. Chronic inflammation and poor absorption contributing to a heart attack....? Hmmmm....I would tend to think so! Can we say INFLAMMATION?

I can't remember where I just read something about 'whitened skin patches' on the skin being an indicator of poor digestive enzymes and a deficiency in good gut flora,(if anyone can help me recall??) but my father has had these patches on his shins for the past 25 years...

My mother's cognitive decline and depression escalated after she had a nasty bout of gastroenteritis about 10 years ago. When that cleared up she presented with IBS type symptoms, but no one would listen to my concerns. (Both parents very stubborn) She then began using mineral oil for her bouts of constipation, which we both know strips the colon and evacuates good flora. In fact, it does such a 'good job' that your body hasn't even got time to absorb any nutrients before they are flushed out!

I plan on passing this on to them in hope that they will read it.
