A new Thomson Reuters poll [pdf] found that the majority (58%) of consumers prefer organic food to conventional food. This preference is particularly strong with those with a higher education, and those of a younger demographic. Sixty-three perfect of respondents under age 35 choose organics when possible.

Among those that prefer organic food, their primary reasons were broken down in four categories: supporting local farms (36%), avoiding toxins (34%), environmental health (17%) and taste (13%). Price was the primary reason that respondents preferred non-organic food.

Income was not a huge factor for organic food preference. In fact, those that made between $25,000 and $49,999 (61.2%) preferred organic slightly more than those that made over $100,000 (60.8%).

Animals don't come with preconceptions. They instinctively know what's good.
Plus, they don't watch TV.

These experiments fail when you try on cats that have already eaten industrial cat chow because they add a artificial mouse aroma.

My cats are equally happy with raw liver or raw ground organ meat from the local slaughterhouse.

I had a cat for almost 2 years a few years ago (developed severe allergy to him unfortunately). When I got him, he was suffering from feline herpes respiratory infection. He wasn't really sick, just always runny nose and runny eyes and sneezing. Well, I changed my dogs to a no grain food (at the time was mostly organic) so decided to change Rusty's food too. He had absolutely no problem making the change. What I didn't expect was that his symptoms would go away but for the most part they did.
