  10. Re: Deer Disease Poses Risks to General Public, Not Just Hunters

Have you seen any evidence of deer sick with this among those who, ahem, visit your crops, Islander? Don't they eat fruit off your trees, too?
  11. Re: Powerful And Proliferative: The Formidable Purslane

Now we know that purslane here is 'beldroega'. My husband found some yesterday at the organic farmers' market, and we had it in mixed salads yesterday and today. Mystery solved! It came in such a...

    Good point, Islander.
  13. Re: New Flu Vaccine More Dangerous And Less Effective

Those things, and also the money the vaccine injuries court has paid out.

"in defense of vaccines"--I don't think that was what you meant to say, was it, Islander?
  14. Re: Protein Mania: The Rich World's New Diet Obsession

I made chickpea soup today, using chicken/vegetable broth that I had leftover as part of the liquid. Delicious! Maybe not too smart, though: Last Thursday was Rio's hottest day since 2015, at 106...
  15. Re: Powerful And Proliferative: The Formidable Purslane

Yeah, my husband also told me I was mistaken. But ora pro nobis supposedly has the same, scientific name! It can be really hard to establish what certain plants are in English. Sometimes what sounds...
  16. Re: Powerful And Proliferative: The Formidable Purslane

I'll have to see what they call it here in Brazil.

Update: Aha! It's what I thought, although the leaves in the picture are a little different--a different variety, I guess. It has several names...

I've never heard of it either. I'd be very interested in taking a look at one.

Islander, I don't have a google mail account (and don't want one). The link just takes me to a generic google mail...

  24. Re: Zinc And Dark Chocolate Are The One-Two Punch Against Aging

That's exactly what I meant, Islander. I enjoy them in salads, and they're yummy by themselves, too. We buy them raw and roast them in a stainless steel frying pan on the stovetop before eating.
