Well, There's this: I don't know anyone, even single people like me, with an electric bill under $60-75, and most are well over $100. So, I don't have the water heater or the TV, and rarely use the electric clothes dryer...but the people I know with televisions have them on all the time when they are home, even when there's no one in the room. That must suck up some juice. When I did have the TV, VCR, etc. everything was plugged into a power strip and the strip was left in the OFF position, so no loose juice. I have my audio equipment set up the same way. I will take on all challengers for the title of World's Most Frugal Woman.

Spot on Julieanne, All utility prices here have gone through the roof recently. Aaltrude, when we built our present house a couple of years ago, I had a gas BBQ with hood and temperature gauge, installed outside under the cover of a pergola attached to the house, had it slightly modified to use natural gas and use it regularly, being outside there is no gas smell at all as it wafts off into the breeze.

We live in the a rural area therefore mains gas is not an option. Our gas BBQ currently is not under cover but there are plans to rectify that.

Had a power cut yesterday, and was certainly glad I had gas to cook on!
