Kimberlyn, a 46-year-old married mother living in Arizona is not your average patient. She is highly detailed, analytical, logical, and carries with her a master’s degree in pattern analysis. When Kimberlyn got sick, she applied as much as she could from her work life to try to uncover what was adversely affecting her. Even so, coming to the right diagnoses took a lot of work and required outside help.

Out of nowhere, and for no apparent reason, Kimberlyn suddenly went from a highly-effective, busy, working mother, to a disorganized, uninvolved, confused individual who couldn’t focus long enough to put together cohesive, coherent thoughts. She was no longer able to make decisions for herself and struggled to even get dressed in the morning.

Very inspirational story. Glad Kimbelyn was wise enough and financially gifted to get to the root cause of her illness. Brain SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography) imaging is a highly sophisticated nuclear medicine study that evaluates the blood flow in the brain. The procedure requires the injection of radioactive material, which highlights brain activity. The procedure is NOT covered by all insurances, and cost about $3,000.00., plus $175.00 per half session for any follow-up visits, plus transportation and hotel costs if you don't live near one of the 6 clinics that perform the procuedure. (3 clinics on the east coast and 3 on the west coast U.S.A.). So, you have to be a person of means to avail yourself to such a promising, seemingly effective medical procedure.

Thanks Reesacat, this gives folks another suspect to rule out when doctors cannot find the answer.
