    Default Clothes Moths

I have had enormous problems with these little horrors the last couple of years. This winter I realised they had destroyed three of my favourite warm sweaters. I had a talk with the owner of our local hardware store, who is not a fan of chemicals, and she suggested freezing the sweaters one by one to kill the eggs.

Duh! Why didn't I think of that? I regularly freeze grains, dry beans and flour for 48 hours to kill off any weevil and Indian meal moth eggs. Just didn't make the connection, but I am working my way through them now.

Agreed, thanks for the tip! Julie, do you bag your sweaters in plastic first?

Next time, for prevention, I wonder if lavender would work? I think I've heard that it's supposed to.

Islander, yes, I wrap in an old shopping bag. I also have various balls of wool which are being ruined in another cupboard, so I need to go through those too, plus a single woolen underblanket which is being chewed.

Patty, I have been using cedarwood oil, but I think it was a case of closing the gate after the horse has bolted (I'm showing my age!) It might work once I have broken the cycle.
