Accepting Dr. Joseph Mercola's Challenge, Sayer Ji Reveals Conflict of Interest and "Ice-Washing" Behind ALS Viral Meme

Sayer Ji responds to Dr. Mercola’s challenge, re-directing attention to the true causes and solutions that aren’t being investigated or funded by the ALS Association.

Sayer Ji, founder of Greenmedinfo.com, after accepting Dr. Joseph Mercola’s 24-hour challenge, explains why the ALS Association’s fund-raiser is a typical cause-marketing charade, with already identified causes of ALS, and natural solutions, unmentioned, and unfunded by the organization who raised $50+ million dollars in the past month only.

Sayer points out the link between statins and ALS and reveals ALS Association corporate sponsors include drug companies that manufacture them

"...billions of dollars raised without appreciable yield for the ultimate outcome: saving lives."

How very true, and how is it that this sad fact escapes the attention of so many people? All those people wearing pink baseball caps and running to "fight" breast cancer...or dousing themselves with ice water... Do they have even half a clue that they're probably wasting their time? The research they contribute to only produces more toxic "band-aid" drugs with no intention of finding cures. Yet another reason why I refuse to donate to these causes.

According to ALS's website, ALS spent about $26 million for the fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2014. Of the $26 million, only $7.2 million (28 percent) was spent on research. ALS spent almost $2 million (7 percent) on administrative costs, which includes salaries. The head of ALS' salary was almost $300,000 last year. Most of the money was spent on public & professional education, which totaled almost $9 million, or 32 percent of the budget. Personally, I'd rather see less money on education and more on research. I think those figures are pretty typical of charitable organizations.

I agree, Islander, these figures are fairly typical. With the advent of the ALS "bucket challenge," donations between July and Sept. soared to over $50 million. It will be very interesting to see how this money is spent. I believe most contributors think they're contributing towards finding a cure, i.e. research.

Exactly, and therein lies the problem.
