Default New Insight Into Bowel Cancer May Offer More Targeted Treatment in the Future

Scientists have announced they believe bowel cancer may be separated into four different categories, something that potentially could have a big impact on future treatment options. Here’s what you need to know.
Usually, bowel or colorectal cancers are given the title “adenocarcinomas” in reference to the gland cells in the bowel lining where this kind of cancer tends to first develop. Scientists have long suspected, however, that this kind of cancer could be broken down into distinct groups due to the wide variance in how aggressive the cancer can be and the survival rates post treatment.

There must be a lot I don't understand about colorectal cancer because it seems like the east of all to treat. Mine was caught late, but before it had penetrated the colon wall, so surgery removed the segment of colon that contained the tumor. End of story. No follow-up Tx at all.

Not everyone has such a good outcome. I have lost two close friends to bowel cancer. Both had surgery, but maybe it was too late. I miss them both.

I think you're right. Colon cancer is easy to treat if detected early. But since there are no symptoms, it's often overlooked until it is in fact too late. This is why I'm constantly on about it.
