Default Vitamin K Diabetes Trial A World First

    Cathy O'Leary
    January 2 2016

WA diabetes patients are being recruited into a world-first trial to see if vitamin K can help stop them having heart attacks and strokes.
It is part of a double-barrelled study by Royal Perth Hospital of treatments that could switch off dangerous hardening of the arteries, a leading cause of sickness and death in diabetics.
The'''' pilot study is the first to focus on turning off microcalcification activity to stop the build-up of calcium in the arteries.
Doctors will give diabetics vitamin K and the anti-inflammatory medicine colchicine, which is commonly used to treat gout, a type of arthritis caused by too much uric acid in the blood.

Articles like this sadden and depress me.

“So far the only treatment to reduce hardening of the arteries has been lowering cholesterol, but while that cuts back the risk of heart attack, it seems to have absolutely no effect on calcification.
“People still have heart attacks despite being on cholesterollowering [sic] treatment, so we’ve got to find new ways that work better.”

Yes, statin drugs decrease the risk of heart attack by what, .01%? Statistically insignificant. So yes, per the admission above, statin drugs have no effect on heart attack risk. But readers of this site know what does. Three simple approaches could essentially put an end to heart attacks...and no one wants to believe it.

Just FYI, here's the website of Dr. Matthias Rath, who worked with Linus Pauling on the Pauling-Rath Protocol:

I knew you would make a valuable comment Islander! Lots of things wrong with the idea behind this trial.

Islander, from your comment last year:

    Proteolytic enzymes:

'Wow. $50 for 90, which is probably a one month supply. This requires some thinking over....'

Have a look at the 'enzyme' page on iherb. A combination of Now Super enzymes and Serrapeptase (one of the best) would last over two months (enzymes two months, Serra three). On my computer iherb only gives me Aus dollar prices - cheaper for you with our current exchange rate - just under $50. Or you could skip the Serrapeptase and just go for the other enzymes.

Julie, here's a three month supply for $11. I don't know how shipping work to Australia, but here, if you buy $25 worth of vitacost brand products, shipping is free. If I come short of the total, I just add a container of coconut oil or an extra bottle of vitamin C and I'm good to go at no additional charge.

This is the brand I use: http://www.vitacost.com/doctors-best...ta=nattokinase

Thanks for that Islander, I'll check it out. Free shipping in nearly every case is for US customers only. I get free shipping with iherb if I spend over $50, which is easy to do when you buy a number of supps. Their shipping is really cheap anyway, which is the main reason I shop there.

I do the same - buy an extra item I know I'll use to get the free shipping!

Vitacost offers their free shipping with orders over $49 only to US contiguous states. Our area, along with Alaska, Hawaii, and all "foreign" countries are excluded.

What a shame, Maurya. Can you get free shipping from i-herb, as Julie does?

iHerb will not ship to me. Don't remember the reason. Vitacost will ship for about $10 and Life Extension is free, if one signs up for their yearly prepaid shipping plan. It turns out to be totally worth it for me.

Henry, "their delivery is extremely shoddy." Not sure what you mean, I get very fast delivery these days. Used to take 2-3 week, but I think they have a warehouse in Australia now, and it comes in a week.
