Default 'Strongest Link Yet' Found Between Zika Virus And Birth Defects In Newborns

Scientists are edging closer to establishing a link between the virus and microcephaly, a birth defect where babies are born with abnormally small heads

Zika virus has been found in the brain tissue of babies with microcephaly for the first time as scientists edge closer to establishing a link between the virus and the birth defect.
Doctors in Slovenia found the entire genome of the mosquito-borne disease during the autopsy of an aborted 32-week foetus, which had suspected microcephaly.
The 25-year-old mother, who requested a termination after a prognosis of severe brain disease in her baby, had lived and volunteered in Natal, northeast Brazil before falling pregnant.

I'm beginning to think that we may all be right. This may be a multi-factorial condition. I am still not ready to accuse the Zika virus of responsibility; the fact that it is endemic world wide in warmer populations, and has no history of association with disease, makes me expect that its presence is merely indicative of exposure or even infection at some time, but nothing more. The prime suspects appear to me to be vaccination or exposure to pesticides, specifically larvicide, during pregnancy.

Islander, my thoughts too. Though this case is in Slovenia, which changes things, depending on where the mother was when she contracted the disease.

Three pregnant women diagnosed with Zika in Queensland, Australia, so far. Just a few lines on page 23 of the newspaper, with no mention of where they got it. I've seen no mention of the larvicide connection in MSM.

The 25,000 or so cases of microcephanly that have been documented to occur every year in the United States have been found to have many varied factors for their origin. A pregnant woman is vulnerable to anything from internal assaults, such as vaccinations, exposure to many toxins such as pesticides (including the currently suspected larvacides) and heavy metals, to injuries such as a fall at critical times during the pregnancy, to poor nutrition, poor water quality, etc. In an already weakened condition due to these factors, the addition of a normally inconsequential virus just might be the "straw that broke the donkey's back". One does not then automatically blame the straw.
