This is a graphic directed at women. You ladies may find it familiar. Maybe too familiar.

Until recently, medications were only tested on men. That included medicine intended only for women. Women were told that hot flashes were all in their heads until a doctor used an infra-red camera to film a woman having one. It is very difficult getting heard in a man-centric society.

I've only had this experience once, and that was a few years ago. The doc seemed uninterested in finding out why I was so tired, so I asked for a referral to see a consultant physician. He was not pleased with this, but gave me the referral anyway.

Turned out I was really low on iron. I never went back to that doctor. I felt like he regarded me as a hypochondriac.
