Default Germany defeats France to swing EU vote in favour of herbicide glyphosate

Germany defeated its key EU ally France in a very tight vote on Monday to clear the use of the herbicide, glyphosate, for the next five years after a heated debate over whether it causes cancer. Representatives from 18 of the 28 members states voted in favour of the European Commission's proposal for a five-year renewal, with nine against and one abstained, the commission said in a statement. http://www.france24.com/en/20171127-...rs-agriculture

I think it's key to remember THIS IS NOT WHAT PEOPLE VOTED FOR no matter what country. It's just what the selected elected few voted for, same as in America polictsheet Seriously, how can anyone be in favor of glyphosate unless you have a heavy financial investment in it and/or can be sure your kids or their kids don't ingest any.

Cross-party pressure builds for EU decision on glyphosate to be annulled... The Greens/EFA group will try to build a majority in the European Parliament to refer the EU’s decision to renew the licence for glyphosate to the European Court of Justice. The Greens and MEPs from the S&D political group are calling for the decision to be annulled. http://mailchi.mp/43b29099d4ca/cross...d?e=c0bdaba3bc
