Default The Monsanto Issue You May Not Know About

Monsanto hasn’t made a great name for itself over the years, and its recently engineered comeback for the herbicide dicamba has only been rife with controversy. Why? Because after application, dicamba has a dangerous tendency to spread and wipe out crops that it wasn’t even applied to. That’s right—dicamba is decimating non-GMO crops and unsuspecting farmlands.
Dicamba is an old weed killer which fell out of favor over 20 years ago with the advent of glyphosate (which, while still toxic, is less terrible than dicamba).

The story about dicamba is not new; we've posted about it here before. It's an environmental disaster. Scott Pruitt, former head of the EPA, was staunchly opposed to banning it although I believe individual states (Alabama?) have done so. Now that Pruitt has left the agency, Andrew Wheeler, a former coal lobbyist who shares Mr. Pruitt's zeal to undo environmental regulations, is in charge. I am not sanguine about his actions.

What I don't remember reading is the " dangerous tendency to spread and wipe out crops that it wasn’t even applied to". Maybe I just missed it, but that is truly frightening.

Yes, millions in damages to lost crops and pollinators— like bees. There's been a lot of noise about it but little action.
