Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a progressive degenerative disease that most commonly appears after the age of 50. Currently, Alzheimer’s afflicts approximately 40 percent of all individuals over the age of 85, for a total of 4 million people in the U.S. alone. When symptoms occur before the age of 65 the disease is designated Presenile Dementia of the Alzheimer’s Type (PDAT). When symptoms occur after age 65 the syndrome is referred to as Senile Dementia of the Alzheimer’s Type (SDAT). Symptoms include a gradual yet inexorable loss of memory, mental performance, communication skills, abstract thinking and personality. Ultimately, Alzheimer’s ends in the death of the patient, with a mean life expectancy of 8 years.

The natural Chinese drug, Huperzinea A, sounds far superior to the two primary Alzheimer's drugs,Tacrine and Aricept. Didn't realize these drugs were so expensive -- between $100 to $240 every month. While the article didn't price Hup A, it can't be anywhere near the cost of the U.S. drugs....at least, not yet?? The best news....Hup A did not cause liver toxicity and diarrhea like Tacrine and Aricept. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Source Naturals Huperzine from iherb: $31.50 US for 120 tablets. That's a four month supply, so no contest!

I watched all but one of the recent Ancient Medicine videos online recently, and huperzine was recommended for memory problems, not just Alzheimer's. I'm thinking of taking it myself, but need to do a bit more research first.

I recently read somewhere that a cup of greens or orange veggies per day will enhance memory significantly (over a 2-3-month period, I think). Trying...
