The phrase “family farm” probably conjures up something very specific in your mind’s eye. You may think of a rundown red barn, some happy chickens scratching around the yard, a few acres of crops and a loving family that tends to land they’ve cared for over many generations. Maybe there’s a farmstand out on the highway with an honesty box and a cheerful field of sunflowers that bobs in the breeze; family farms are small, intimate, and run by people who care for animals and the land, right?
