A treatment for peanut allergies that could literally save children’s lives just passed a big testing milestone, but uncertainty over pricing looms on the horizon.

Around the world, an estimated 0.6 percent and 1.0 percent of the population has a peanut allergy, which can range from mild to severe. Those who do suffer may display a range of symptoms from annoying but harmless ailments like a runny nose or itching and tingling around the mouth to more severe symptoms like developing hives and difficulty breathing

For several years, I've followed this issue closely because my grandchild suffers from this. This article focuses on "desensitizing" a child by giving small doses of a peanut substance over time. In 2015, I came across an Australian study that used a similar method, but they also supplemented the diet with a specific probiotic. They found that a combination of small amounts of peanut protein along with the probiotic "Lactobacillus rhamnosus" achieved the best results over 18 months, according to the study.

We have a post making reference to a similar trial in Australia three years ago. https://www.hawkeshealth.net/communi...ghlight=peanut

Silly me. I'm sure I read about the study here at HH, especially since this is my #1 source for health/nutrition news. It's the exact same study I remember.
