    Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease—and women who have taken it for 10 years are the most vulnerable, a new study has discovered. Women are more likely than men to develop Alzheimer's, and taking HRT increases the risk by a further 19 per cent.

    The latest research turns on its head earlier studies that had thought HRT had a protective effect against Alzheimer's and dementia because it kept levels of estrogen higher.

    Under any circumstances, I would be reluctant to interfere with somebody's hormonal system. I assume that my body knows best. I sailed through menopause with no discomfort, no issues and no additional hormones, and I intend to keep it that way.
