Fantastic. I've heard many suggestions to address memory loss, but never this one. I'm seriously going to give it a try!

I do use mindfulness, only I call it focus. I focus on the activity I'm doing, whether it's taking my vitamins or reaching for the ricotta cheese in the fridge. I used to open the refrigerator and then completely forget why I was standing there. Being "mindful" keeps me focused on the task I'm doing.
I'll add one practice to the list. I use post-it notes (greatest invention since canned beer) for reminders, most of which are sticking to my computer, because that's where I learn new words like chyron or ultracrepidarian (one who judges or gives advice outside his area of expertise). I'm unlikely to use that last one, but at least I'll recognize it the next time I see it! And let's not forget Anoia, Godess of Inanimate Objects. She's the one responsible when the copier breaks down in the middle of a rush job.

Walking backwards is also good for balance. It was one of the exercises we had to do in the physio group after I had a hip replacement. It's not easy to do if your balance is off.
