    Ever since the cholesterol theory of heart disease was created during the 1970s and 1980s, eggs have been vilified as a potential threat for not only heart disease, but more recently even diabetes.
    Official institutional warnings of egg consumption continue, even as the cholesterol theory of heart disease is crumbling with the emerging unbiased science proving otherwise.
    Diabetes type 2 has become epidemic in cultures that have embraced western processed food diets. There have been some epidemiological surveys that have managed to associate egg consumption with an increased risk of diabetes.

    Here is the problem with "science says..." This always was a tenuous connection, at best, and should have been studied and refuted before the public propaganda campaign had begun. With many other matters that have much great data in support, the conclusion tends to be "more study is needed". Here is a good explanation as to why that was not done with this one. As always, follow the money.

    Maurya: You nailed it...."follow the money." As soon as the Egg Beaters folks and the American Heart Association teamed up the cholesterol hype...it was all over. "Pastured Eggs" are perfect. "Commercial eggs" may contain antibiotics and other unhealthy stuff. The yolk of a pastured egg is so golden yellow, containing about 200 mg. of cholesterol equalized by roughly 200 mg. of choline (a B vitamin) which helps to modulate cholesterol. More importantly, the yolk contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which lower cholesterol. Further, egg yolks contain critical vits., like A, D, E, K, & B-12, and selenium, which helps us to discard mercury. The "pastured egg yolk" is a perfect food.

    Absolutely, Islander!! I failed to mention the 6 grams of protein in an egg, about 25% the amount of eating a 4 oz. steak. Also, regarding cholesterol, studies have shown that the darker, golden yellow yolks of pastured eggs have "less cholesterol," due to healthier, more natural feed. Another good reason to eat pastured eggs if you're concerned about egg cholesterol.
