Default Ritalin Changes Children's Brain Structure

ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactive disorder) drugs such as Ritalin alter the structure of children's brains. They change the distribution of white matter in the brain which affects the ability to learn—paradoxically, the very thing the drug is supposed to improve.
Profound changes to the brain were seen within four months of taking ADHD medication—and researchers who made the discovery have urged doctors to prescribe the drugs only when it is absolutely necessary.

    1. Why does this not surprise me, and 2, why did it take so long?
OK, 3. How many doctors will be made aware of this, and will anything change?

ScienceDaily reported over a decade ago about research showing that Ritalin (Methylphenidate) may have adverse effects on a child's brain. And still, we've been drugging our kids with this junk for almost 50 years. Ritalin causes problems primarily in the frontal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for decision-making and impulse behavior, among other things. Imagine what a few years on this drug does to a child's ability to reason and control his/her behavior. Shameful.

I'm going to print this out and take to my doc next time I see him. So at least one doctor will know.
