Default Green Tea Could Hold The Key To Reducing Antibiotic Resistance

Scientists at the University of Surrey have discovered that a natural antioxidant commonly found in green tea can help eliminate antibiotic resistant bacteria.
The study, published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology, found that epigallocatechin (EGCG) can restore the activity of aztreonam, an antibiotic commonly used to treat infections caused by the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

This is great news. In addition to this great news, EGCG, as a polyphenol, has numerous other health benefits. I've tried but can't acquire much of a taste for green tea. Although EGCG is most abundant in green tea, I was happy to learn that EGCG is also found in smaller amounts in strawberries, blackberries, cranberries, kiwi, cherries, pears, peaches, avocados, pecans, pistachios, and hazelnuts. Also, the skins of apples and grapes (wine) contain some EGCG. If you share my dislike for green tea, there are other teas, like black, white, and oolong, that also contain EGCG.
