Default Vitamin C Therapy Linked To Better Survival Rates After Sepsis

    October 1 2029

New research led by Virginia Commonwealth University and published in the October issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association suggests that patients with sepsis and septic lung injury could have a better chance of survival and recover more quickly when treated with vitamin C infusions.
Sepsis, a bodywide inflammation in response to infection, is a leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals, with up to 300,000 deaths reported each year, according to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

Vitamin C...the panacea!! It's interesting that sepsis could be viewed as a "severe" vitamin C deficiency, like scurvy but only much worse.

It has been said that one should take vitamin C up to "bowel tolerance". Interesting is that in severe cases of illness that bowel tolerance just never is reached. The body just gobbles up and uses every bit of ascorbate that we can give it in those cases.

I may be wrong, but it's my understanding that when Vit. C is infused, it doesn't affect the bowels the way it does when taken orally. That said, I agree with you that even when taken orally, bowel tolerance often isn't an issue in that if your body needs X amount, X amount won't cause bowel issues.

Vit. C's wonderful effects in cases of sepsis isn't new, but it's always good to see mainstream medicine acknowledge and use 'alternative' cures.
