MORGANTOWN — World-leading brain experts at West Virginia University’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute are celebrating the historic breakthrough Alzheimer patients around the globe have been awaiting.
“For Alzheimer’s, there’s not that many treatments available, despite hundreds of clinical trials over the past two decades and billions of dollars spent,” said Dr. Ali R. Rezai, a neurosurgeon at WVU who led the team of investigators that successfully performed a phase II trial using focused ultrasound to treat a patient with early stage Alzheimer’s.

This is from last year, but it's the first time I had read about it.

"'The potential benefits of the first and subsequent treatments will take several years to fully evaluate', Rezai said." Perhaps that's why we haven't heard any more about it in over a year. Glad you found this, Maurya. It certainly sounds promising!

This is a more recent follow up, from PBS. Maybe not so promising.

Seems like results are still inconclusive.

Thanks for posting, Maurya!! This article connects the dots for me regarding the ultrasound clinical trial. I follow a database of most Alzheimer's-related clinical trials. I saw a clinical trial based on ultrasound, but was not able to find specific info. This helps a lot. The database is called "Us-Against-Alzheimer's."
