Default Seven Sunscreen Chemicals Enter Bloodstream After One Use - Report

    CNN
    January 22 2020

After a single application, a total of seven chemicals commonly found in sunscreens can be absorbed into the bloodstream at levels that exceed safety thresholds, according to studies by the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, an arm of the US Food and Drug Administration.

"What is most alarming about these findings is that chemicals are absorbing into the body in significant amounts and the ingredients have not been fully tested for safety,"

Information like this should be widely disseminated, especially for those in the southern latitudes where not only is it summer at the moment, but the sun is apparently even stronger than it is here in the northern latitudes. That said, I make a point of sunbathing to stock up on my vitamin D in summer, and I noticed that the summer of 2019 the sun's rays seemed literally hotter. I used to spend at least 15 or 20 minutes in the midday sun, but last year my limit was 10 minutes before I actually began to feel the burn. Did anyone else notice this?

Julieanne, the link you posted would not take me to the source (page not found). I did a quick search, however, and everyone is reporting the same story so I pulled one from a popular USA news source.

From a toxic PoV, slathering one self in sunscreen lotion must be like rapping your body in a giant nicotine patch.

I just now caught a TV news ditty about sunscreen legislation in Florida where state legislators want pre-emptive legislation to prevent local sunscreen laws.

I don't do videos or anything with audio for obvious reasons. But I wonder whether the concern has anything to do with the way sunscreen ingredients are damaging ocean coral. As good a reason to ban it as any!
