Gov. Northam to appear at Wesley Hadsell murder trial

SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Gov. Ralph Northam will be subpoenaed to testify at the trial of Wesley Hadsell, the man accused of murdering his stepdaughter, Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell. Defense lawyers for Hadsell filed the motion to subpoena Northam on Thursday in Southampton County court. A Southampton County judge granted the defense’s request to put the governor on the stand.

Northam, who is also a pediatric neurologist, was AJ Hadsell’s doctor. Court documents show Northam prescribed AJ anti-depressants two months before she disappeared in March 2015 on spring break from Longwood University.

Since Virginia Gov. Dr. Ralph Northam is part of the professional allopathic community, this could have some far reaching implications with all that one reads in the news about physicians recklessly prescribing needless pharmaceuticals, especially opioids. That raises the question if Gov. Dr. Northam may be conflicted in his testimony since he may have prescribed the very medication that allegedly resulted in death???

Isn't it a little premature to post this story? First, it was the girl's stepfather who is on trial for the murder; and secondly, according to the medical records, she was prescribed a headache pill, not an anti-depressant.
