Default Exercise Has The Same Effect On The Brain As Coffee

    January 30 2020

Just 20 minutes of exercise is as good as a coffee for our working memory, according to a new, first-of-its-kind study.
Exercise may be just as good, if not better, than coffee for jumpstarting the brain.
In a new study, which appears in Nature Scientific Reports, researchers compared the effects of caffeine and exercise on working memory and concluded that acute exercise can be as good for the mind as it is for the body.
How many of us use caffeine to fire up those little gray cells in the morning, or when we want to nail that deadline?

I have found that caffeine doesn't have a significant effect on me, nor do I experience discomfort from withdrawal. Right now I'm sitting here with a pot full of gunpowder tea. No coffee launched me this morning!

I never experienced the 'buzz' other people tell me they get with coffee. I drink it because I just love the taste. Nevertheless, being a chronic insomniac, I am careful to only drink it in the morning.

I enjoy a cup of hot, organic coffee first thing in the morning. I love the taste of straight black coffee, nothing added...no sugar, cream, milk....nothing. I understand the chemicals used to decaf coffee aren't as bad as they use to be, but chemicals are involved in the decaf process.

One of my main remaining small pleasures in life is my morning cup of coffee, black, made from organic coffee beans. First thing in the morning, right after taking the dog out. Everything else just can wait.

According to Organicconsumer.org, some "non-organic" decaf coffees contain a very harsh chemical, known as methylene chloride. The FDA banned the chemical from cosmetics in 1985, but allowed its continued use in decaf coffee, due to what the FDA called "extremly low" amounts. Japan and Korea have banned methylene chloride for use in decaf coffee. Another compelling reason to drink organic coffee.
