    I've taken "natural" omega-3 fish oil capsules for years, aiming to reduce inflammation and ward off heart problems. I take natural omega-3 oil from wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon. Natural omega-3 sourced from salmon, sardines, and other fatty fish is better absorbed and metabolized than synthetic types. More importantly, natural omega-3 will contain cholesterol, vitamin A and vitamin D, EPA & DHA, and astaxanthin. The astaxanthin protects the fish oil against becoming rancid. Synthetic forms are highly refined to "artificially" increase the amount of EPA & DHA, and decrease or even eliminate vitamins A & D, and the astaxanthin. The synthetic forms are cheaper and less bioavailable than the natural types.
