    Default Recurrence of chickenpox?

I always understood that the common childhood diseases (measles, mumps, chickenpox) conferred lifetime immunity once you have them as a child. Now I'm reading from a Facebook friend that she had chicken pox on three separate occasions. Is this possible? Is chickenpox an exception from lifetime immunity?

I suppose there are always exceptions to the rule. However, is this person confusing and/or experiencing shingles, as opposed to chicken pox???

No. She is fully expecting that the virus remains in her system and will someday express as shingles.
