Yes, I was surprise to learn of the connection between glucose and vitamin C. Glucose transporters take both glucose and vitamin C into the cells. But, they compete against each other for entry. So, the higher your glucose, the less vitamin C you absorb. But, increased, higher doses of vit. C overcomes the glucose and more vit. C gets into the cells, thus lowering glucose levels. Bottom line: diabetics or people suffering from insulin resistance require much more vit. C.

The corollary would be that whenever one is feeling a bit puny, as though coming down with a cold or something, the first two things that should be done are to stop all sugar intake and to increase vitamin C intake.

Excellent corollary!!!! I'm reminded that most starches are converted to sugar right after we eat. So, I've begun taking addt'l vit. C whenever I eat starchy foods in addition to sugary foods.
