Default Sweden's Covid-19 Death Toll Becomes Highest In The World

Sweden had 6.08 deaths per million inhabitants per day between May 13 and May 20. This is the highest in the world, above the UK, Belgium and the US, which have 5.57, 4.28 and 4.11, respectively.
At this stage of the pandemic, the Scandinavian country has the highest mortality rate per capita, according to a Financial Times tracker which uses a seven-day rolling average of new deaths.
In recent weeks, as the death toll has fallen significantly in other European countries such as Spain, Italy, France and the UK, Sweden’s has remained stubbornly high.
As of Wednesday, 3,831 people had died from COVID-19 in Sweden – a country with a population of 10 million.

Sweden's approach to COVID-19 provides an interesting contrast to other Scandinavian countries. Universities and high schools were closed, but primary schools remained open. They say a lockdown of workers was not necessary becasue about 60% of workers actually work from home regularly. It's a curious scenario, but, perhaps, they'll be better prepared for the potential 2nd wave later this year.

I'm unimpressed with the first article of the two sources. What kind of publication withholds the journalist's last name? "Emma R.," seriously? Maybe it's because she's reluctant to be affiliated with a publication that is strongly Islamophobic? I would be too!

The second article is more to the point, but despite their assertions, I don't see that they have gained the slightest advantage by failing to quarantine, in fact the evidence seems to point to the reverse. I really don't understand how they can continue to justify their stance. But maybe I'm missing something.

Note the dates: second article was written April 21, the first one May 22. So a month after saying no need for lockdown their numbers are higher than elsewhere.

Well, the data makes clear that Sweden's approach killed a bunch of elderly people!! As of May 29, Sweden had about 4,500 COVID deaths. 4032 deaths were for people 70 yrs. old or older. COVID deaths under the age of 70 totaled 498. So, about 90% of all deaths were people 70 or older. Were health officials in Sweden aware of such a potential outcome? Did they decide to sacrifice the old people on purpose? See the actual breakdown of deaths by age here:
