    Study indicates that EPA and DHA supplementation reduces multiple types of cardiovascular risk, according to Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
    A new study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings provides the most comprehensive analysis of the role of omega-3 dosage on cardiovascular prevention to date. The meta-analysis, which is an in-depth review of 40 clinical trials, provides authoritative evidence for consuming more EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) omega-3 fats.
    The research concludes that EPA and DHA omega-3 intake is associated with reduced risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) events, the cause of 7.4 million deaths globally each year, and reduced risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack), including fatal heart attack.

    Great to see the benefits of Omega-3 backed up by this meta-analysis of 40 clinical trials. Two things: #1. the two Omega 3 acids--EPA & DHA work together, but each has its specialty. EPA mostly reduces inflammation & depression, as well as being heart (cardio) protective. Conversely, DHA mostly improves brain function, brain development, and reduces mental decline. #2. this study states: "cardio protection increased with dosage." Well, this is tricky because you can increase Omega 3 fatty acids, but the benefits can be destroyed if your diet includes too much Omega 6, 7, and 9 fatty acids. Generally, the Standard American Diet (SAD) includes way too much Omega 6 from hydrogenated corn oil, soybean oil, & sunflower oil, which most people use for cooking and almost all fast food is cooked in. The recommended balance for Omega 6 to Omega 3 is: less than 4:1.
