    Default 9 Unexpected Diabetes Triggers

We know that a poor diet and inactivity, two common factors of the Western diet and way of life, can lead to type 2 diabetes. But what’s not discussed very much is how so many people are dealing with this disease for other, lesser-known reasons. Reasons that are sometimes outside of their control.
Have you ever thought about type 2 diabetes as an illness of the environment? In our lifetime, we’re exposed to thousands of chemicals, sometimes on a daily basis.

I can identify two causes for my type two diabetes: one was becoming increasingly sedentary after retirement, and the second was quitting smoking after 50 years of a pack a day. Combine these and you get a rapid weight gain and a sudden diagnosis. It took me less than a year to become diabetic, and roughly 10 years of exercise and careful diet (no grains, no sugars) to reverse my condition without medication. Now I'm in a safe holding pattern, but I know that if I revert to grains and sugars to any degree, my A-1 C will quickly climb again.

Reviewing the other possible causes is discouraging, because no matter how careful we might be, it's almost impossible to avoid them all. I interpret that to mean that we human beings have seeded the planet with a blanket of toxicants. That's truly unsettling.

Yep. We human beings are our own enemies. But, I did find the lists of steps to "avoid" certain pollutants helpful.
