    Default Jar Opener

I got one of these for my birthday, and it really works. I have several others, but this one is far superior. Prices vary enormously.

Just realised this is Australian ebay, but you'll find it if you Google Zyliss jar opener. Excellent Swiss brand.

Ouch. So far I have not met a jar that could defeat me. Maybe next year…

I have a small strap wrench, similar to the ones used for oil filters. It can be used for small lids, or can be turned over and used for large lids (up to a certain size). If a jar is way too large for that one, I could use the strap wrench which I use for the water filters.

Well... I admit that age has reduced the strength in my hands. I use a channel wrench for the smaller caps and lids; I keep it right in the kitchen drawer! So far I can handle the bigger jars, but since I eat organically, there aren't too many foods that come in that sort of container.

Can't argue with that. I too have my own kitchen-used channel wrench ready for tight lids!

Here in the Phillippines, most of us here use our teeth or a spoon to open lids, though I'm not one of them, it's funny how other people can be very creative in their own ways.

Yikes! You must have strong teeth. My dentist would have a fit if he heard this.
