    Keratin is a protein that helps maintain the structure of hair, nails, skin, and the lining of the internal organs. Certain nutrients support keratin production.

    What is keratin?

    Keratin is a building block of the human body. Keratins are tough proteins that form the structure of epithelial cells.
    These cells line surfaces inside and outside the body. They help make up the tissues in the skin, hair, and nails. Epithelial cells also form the lining of the internal organs and glands.

    I just accidentally discovered that biotin is high in keratin, so I'm going to try that for my fingernails that are always breaking! (I eat a lot of the keratin rich foods but apparently, not enough of them).

    I wonder if fragile nails may be genetic, like being born with curly or straight hair. My nails have always been soft and broken easily, ever since I can remember. The only time I was able to fix this was by using a nail hardener, which worked. But I never remember to keep it up, it wears off, and they break again. I've given up!
