I have to use lip balm constantly and have for many years. I used Blistex medicated (in the little white tube) for ages but now I'm using Burt's Bees. I never thought about it being related to my thyroid but you might be onto something there. The typical lip balms that most people use either do nothing for me or make my lips feel worse. If I lose my lip balm I quickly become miserable. BTW, I think if I put honey on my lips I'd immediately lick it off and then away I go eating honey.

THAT'S interesting. The thyroid connection. I've been experimenting with Armour thyroid. At one point, when we were checking monthly, I was on 120 mg. and the tests all came back scary high so the doc dialed it back to 90 mg. I've been on that dose now for 90 days and will see test results tomorrow. But I have the same complaint. I have tubes of locally made lip balm in every room and never leave home w/o one in my pocket because my lips are so dry. And I'm always cold. I suspect the previous erratic test results were some kind of anomaly and I do need to be higher than 90 mg. Any thoughts, anybody?

Not sure how it relates to one's thyroid levels, but ::shameless plug:: my favorite lip balm is Desert Essence with tea tree oil (they make other types of lip balm, as well). Actually, I use a number of their products, but the tea tree lip balm does the trick for my lips in the winter time. For myself personally, I never seem to need it during the summer time.

Where did I read that tea tree oil was toxic?

Only if you ingest it. The tiny amount from lip balm wouldn't hurt you, probably not even if you ate the whole tube. My tyrannical Toby ate an entire tube of the Desert Essence with tea tree oil and it didn't hurt him and it is definitely toxic to dogs. As to thyroid...well, you know I think something was wrong with the last tests and 90 is too little, lol. I'll be interested to see what they are on 90mg. The thing is, you've still managed to lose weight which would be difficult if you were very hypo. Thyroid is weird and complicated.

@Katee, so glad the CS is helping.
